Experience is one of the greatest teachers of all times

Our thoughts and actions , what we go through in life, how we react to it – all these guide us on how to act in future. We need to be aware of the factors that influence past actions and thoughts and use the insights thus obtained to impact current actions. Zen philosophy advises us to always treat every experience as a new one. But this does not mean we reject or ignore our older experiences – it means we should use them as the instruments that help us act and react in the present and in the decisions we take in the present.
Understand and learn from past events
Use the power of contemplation to understand and learn from past events in an objective and purposeful manner. Identify what unconsciously makes you act the way you do. Figure out why you act in a certain way, think over the choices you made in different situations, what did you learn from the decisions that you took in the past? If you have made a poor decision, what have you learnt from it and how do you avoid making similar mistakes in future? Study things impartially and use your past failures to learn how to do better in future.
Hard work, determination, ambition
You need hard work, determination, ambition, drive etc to succeed in any new venture or business. And your past experiences also play their part in helping you take the new business forward. You will see that your past experiences, whether good or bad, can offer you valuable insights on how to become successful businessmen.
Share your learnings with others so that you all know what has to be adopted and what avoided to achieve a desirable outcome. Whatever you are today is the result of all that you have gone through, your thoughts, perceptions, views and opinions. Learn from the past and then let it go – do not hold on to it. Live in the present, enjoy it and use it fruitfully for what you do today is what will prepare you to face tomorrow.
