Convictions and principles

What does a lighthouse do? For ships out at sea they provide a guiding light in the dark or in a storm so that they can sail to safe harbors. It keeps them on their course and helps them survive the hardships at sea. Just as the lighthouse guides sailors, your principles guide you during your bad times and take you towards your harbor.
When entrepreneurs start off on their own business, it is only their convictions and principles that carry them through difficult times – they are their support as those around them may not support them in their entrepreneurial efforts. Thus they need to have well thought out and definite principles as the guiding force for their new company.
Attain your goals
Your principles play a big role in helping you attain your goals in business. They define you and your business. They ensure that you do not stray from your ideals or your target and they help you reach milestones in the business. They help you fulfil your dreams and take your ideas to success. Your guiding light steers you in a dedicated manner.
Your principles also keep you disciplined. Since your goals are clearly marked, you know what next steps to take so that all your actions are in keeping with the image of the company and with your principles. They help you take important business decisions with regard to finances, personnel or marketing.
Ethics and principles
Principles ensure you do not make mistakes. They stop you from taking shortcuts even when they appear tempting and easy. Your code of ethics and principles keep you focused on the right and honorable way of doing things. They keep you from being dishonest like breaking rules or giving a bribe or evading tax or not taking care of employees and cheating them of their dues.
Everybody needs strong principles and a code of conduct to keep them on the straight and narrow. It brings you respect and an efficient and honest workforce. Let your principles be the guiding light that will always point you in the right direction.
