In order to
start and build a strong and viable business, you need to take care of large
and small infrastructural and logistics-based things viz, name, location, human
resources etc. But even more important than these are the principles and values
on the foundation of which the business can develop and flourish.
A true
valuation of your self-worth is essential to be successful in life and in business.
What is
self-worth? It is primarily how you value yourself. We need to value ourselves
for what we are, the challenges we have faced and the achievements we have
accomplished. All that we have gone through-good or bad contribute to making
ourselves what we are today. This is self-worth or self-esteem and it arises
from three basic principles:
·
Believing you can do it
·
Believing you deserve it
·
Believing you will get it
Once you
internalize these three principles, you can overcome anything and everything
and make a go of your business.
So how do you
build self-esteem or self-worth? Not everybody is born with this quality. It is
something that has to be developed if one is going to get into any professional
field – business or otherwise. Some of
the ways in which you can develop self-esteem are:
·
Your way of
speaking:
Be positive in the way you speak and the words you use. Negative words like
“difficult”, “impossible’, “cannot”, or a complaining attitude are sheer
poison. Avoid them.
·
Show gratitude: Note down all the good things in
your life, business etc. When you do that, you can ignore the negatives and the
regrets and feel good about yourself
·
Take a good
look at yourself: Do this mentally or in the mirror and see how much you
have achieved till today. It will give your self-worth a boost to acknowledge
how far you have come.
Self-worth is
the belief that you can do whatever you set your heart and mind on. When you
believe in yourself and project it, others will believe in you and trust you in
the field of business. Trust your abilities, believe you can attain your dreams
and realise your self-worth so that the world also acknowledges it and so helps
your business to grow and prosper.
