The
eligibility criteria for standing for elections and joining the government to
run our country are quite basic - be a citizen of the country, be of legal age
and have a sound body and mind. Which means most adults in the country can run
for office and get elected to be an office bearer for the country’s government.
But there is more to just this, isn’t there? To build a strong and better
economy, a political leader should also have experience, knowledge of the
economy, ability to delegate, a strong mind and leadership qualities. In fact,
all the traits that are essential for and present in a successful entrepreneur.
So
can entrepreneurs run the country? I think they can. I believe that
entrepreneurs will be a good choice as a political leader – they have a sound
knowledge of the economic and financial environment of the country and can help
the government function more efficiently in ways that will be beneficial to the
general populace. Here are the qualities that I think will make entrepreneurs
successful candidates for government jobs:
Journey through the highs
and lows
Experience – Their experience in
the field so to say, their journey through the highs and lows of running a
business, the daily challenges they face, the risks they have to take to ensure
a successful outcome – all this will feed into their work of running the
country.
Knowledge of the economy – Entrepreneurs are well
versed in how the economy functions, they are aware of what economic and
financial reforms and laws wil work and what will not. They can push those that they know will work
and thus help with progress.
Employment –Their experience of
employing people and creating jobs for others will make them more aware of how
important job creation is. They will use their entrepreneurial experiences to
help generate more jobs and more entrepreneurs which will be a positive for the
country.
Ability to delegate – An entrepreneur knows
the value of delegation so that everyone does what he or she is best at. There
is thus, no wastage of resources and skills. Everyone has his or her task which
can be done efficiently.
